Work in Progress Wednesday

 

Lately, I have been making an effort to finish the knitting and crochet projects I have been working on for a while. I have made a lot of progress on this purse. Unfortunately, I am running out of yarn and I am not done yet. I used Lion Brand Glitterspun. I looked it up on the Internet to see how much it would cost to buy more and I found out it is discontinued. I then went through my yarn stash and found the yarn in this picture. It is leftover from a scarf I made a long time ago. It is blue and purple with a little silver. I think this will look good with the silver yarn. I just need to gather up the sides and add handles.  I think this yarn will work for that. 

I have also been working on my granny square blanket.  These are the squares I have done in the past week or so. I want to start joining the squares.  I will be using this technique. I am hoping to have this blanket done by the winter.

Wordless Wednesday

One morning, I went to get the paper and found this guy on the porch. I am not sure if it is a moth or a butterfly. But I think it is beautiful, I love the colors and the pattern on it. Click here to see other pictures from Wordless Wednesday. 

New Beads

At one point, my Mom had tried learning to make jewelry but she wasn’t that interested in the craft. She had beads that sat on a shelf for years. She did a little spring cleaning and realized she didn’t really want learn to make jewelry so she gave me her beads. I am happy to have new supplies to play with. The box of beads she gave me has some wooden beads and several beads in earth tones that will be good for fall coming up. I am excited to see what I can do with them.

Spiral Rope

I am finally getting tired of circular brick stitch. After I made the 2 pieces pictured above, I started to think about other techniques I could use. Lately, I have been working on some projects using a bead weaving stitch called spiral rope. It is a fun technique and like the way it looks. I have been working on this light blue and grey piece. Right now, I am not sure if I want to make it a necklace or a bracelet.

I also had the idea to make earrings using short pieces of spiral rope. Last night, I made a couple of earrings and I am excited at how they turned out. I think this will be a fun project to play with color. I am already thinking of different color combinations I can use for future projects using the same stitch.  

Knitting and Crochet

Lately, I have been mostly beading and making jewelry. That is quite a switch for me. The last few years, I had focused on knitting and crocheting. At the beginning of this year, I made a goal to get back to doing more beading.  Also, when I started my Etsy shop, my crafting shifted and I was making jewelry and beading to the exclusion of other crafts I like to do. I have realized recently that I miss knitting and crochet. Knitting and crocheting is so relaxing for me.

This summer I have been knitting washcloths. It has been pretty hot so I didn’t feel like making a hat, scarf or sweater. I also have a lot of blue multicolored cotton yarn that works well for washcloths .  I have also been working on this granny square blanket for several months. I am making a concerted effort to finish this blanket. I have been eying some crochet jewelry projects I found. I want to finish the blanket before I start other crochet projects.

I have also been working on this purse. I am making it out of crochet thread and worsted weight silver colored yarn.  I bought this yarn several years ago when I first learned to crochet. When I was looking for a new crochet project, I thought this project would be fairly easy.  I also thought it would be a good time to use up the yarn I have had for so long. I will need to find a purse handle to finish it.I also may see if I can sew a lining into the purse.
